Sonu Nigam
Sonu Nigam (born 30 July 1973) is an Indian playback singer, music composer, dubbing artist, and actor, celebrated for his remarkable versatility and wide vocal range. Often regarded as one of the greatest and most successful singers in the Indian music industry, Nigam’s repertoire spans across romantic ballads, soulful ghazals, devotional hymns, high-energy party tracks, patriotic anthems, and even rock and pop music.
Primarily active in Hindi and Kannada cinema, Sonu Nigam has recorded over 6,000 songs in more than 32 languages, including Bengali, Marathi, Tamil, Telugu, Odia, Gujarati, Malayalam, Bhojpuri, Nepali, and English. He has also released numerous non-film albums and acted in a few Hindi films. His contribution to music has earned him prestigious honors, including one National Film Award, two Filmfare Awards, two Filmfare Awards South, and four IIFA Awards for Best Playback Singer. In 2013, he topped the Billboard Uncharted charts twice, highlighting his global popularity. In 2022, he was awarded the Padma Shri, India’s fourth-highest civilian honor.
Nicknamed the “Modern Rafi” as a tribute to his musical idol Mohammad Rafi, Nigam’s artistry transcends languages and genres.
